Broussards Win Central Kick Off

The first event of the 2010 HT Cup is in the books. Cajun Phil and Kevin Broussard took the top spot, a check for $10,000.00 and a beautiful 2 piece, custom fabricated, 1 of a kind trophy created by local artist Luis Colmenarer. Story and recap to come soon.
After winning team members and the random team drawn passed their polygraphs, the celebration was on in full force. So much more to come on this event soon… quote from the weekend was supplied by Jeremy Guilbeau… “we were all treated like celebrities around the festival by everyone, politicians, organizers, and fans. We signed autographs, talked with festival goers and were literally treated like royalty”…. what a great event!
Day 1: Team American Rodsmith showed up and is showing out. In first place is Cajun Phil and Kevin Broussard weighing in 15.19 pounds but right on their heels are fellow American Rodsmith team anglers, Robert Scherer and Blaine Friermood with 15.12 pounds.
Anglers launched at safe light and were escorted by the sherrif’s department and wildlife fisheries, by water, to the on water launch location. Later on Friday afternoon the sherrif’s department took over escorting these same anglers and their rigs, by land, to the weigh in location in downtown Chalmette.
Great crowds were warmed up and ready to cheer for their favorite team(s) as a double lane row of boats and trailers were parked on the main thoroughfare. All video systems were working flawlessly, anglers waiting to get their fish measured were able to see the live results as fish were weighed on the main stage.
Anglers at the staging tanks were able to see the same live weigh in results while they waited to come to the stage. Anglers and audience alike were able to view both the anglers and their fish as they were measured on HT’s innovative hands off measuring system.
The HD camera positioned over the measuring area delivered high quality video to the audience (and anglers who had already weighed) of what was happening back stage.
The top 5 after day 1 rounded out with Scott Ritter and Bobby Abruscato in 3rd, weighing in 13.79 pounds. 4th place finisher, Paul Dufrene and Barnie White are in striking distance with 13.48 pounds while Big Fish TV director CT Williams and Lloyd Landry finish in 5th place with 13.03.
It’s going to be a wild finish to the first event in the 2010 HT Cup Professional Redfish tournament series. Anglers will launch at safe light according to their finish after day 1 and will again be greeted by Rotary officials who handed out great lunches to the anglers, at launch, to handle those afternoon snack attacks.

The captain’s meeting took place with the redfish committee rolling out the red carpet for the tour and its’ anglers. Great food, great planning, awesome decorations and a welcome mat rolled out that reached from one end of the parish to the other.
Elizabeth (Gidget) McDougal and a great staff and law enforcement went out of their way to make sure HT and its’ anglers enjoyed friendly, problem free execution of a complicated weigh in.
The 35th year of the Louisiana Crawfish Festival is well underway and from the foods to the bands and entertainment is first class and second to none! Thank you to all those that worked so hard to bring
